2nd. That Heresy le Tharrett Require, RM. has been in the Service of the Colony for 7 years, and 1 Month (viz: from 1st March 1861 to 13th April 1868).
3rd. That in the course of that Service he has been absent on leave on several occasions, at the dates and for the terms specified below, viz. :--
1st.--For 12 Months and 2 days, beginning on 17 November 1862 and ending on 18 November 1863.
4th. That provision has been made for the due execution of Mr. Tharrett's Office during his absence by the appointment of Robert Hannah Cairns, Acting Government Marine Surveyor.
